Mike Cohen, MA, is the founder of Kirtan Leader Institute. He is a pioneering force in Kirtan music education, having trained thousands of aspiring Kirtan leaders globally since 2010. A lifelong musician with over two decades of executive leadership development, he has developed a revolutionary approach to sacred chant instruction.

Michele Heaphy is a passionate sacred chant musician who has been captivating audiences since 2017. Her unique musical journey blends heart-centered original chants with Western grooves and powerful mantras, creating a distinctive sound that resonates deeply with listeners.
Musical Highlights:
- Led her own Kirtan band from 2017-2021
- Member of Mike Cohen & the Shakti Groove since 2021

Teaching Philosophy As an instructor, Michele focuses on empowering students to develop:

Current Projects Michele is currently collaborating with Grammy-nominated producer Ben Leinbach, recording four original chants set for release in summer 2025. She regularly performs at e-Town Hall and other Boulder area venues as a member of Mike Cohen & The Shakti Groove, sharing her original chants and bringing her unique musical vision to life.
Background Before establishing herself in Boulder's music scene in 2022, Michele built successful careers as a music educator and business owner, bringing a rich background of experience to her musical and teaching endeavors.
