You're a total newbie to Kirtan and wondering, what's this all about? Here's a brief beginner's guide to Kirtan.

  1. Kirtan is call and response chanting from India. that invokes connection with the Divine. It is the central practice of Bhakti Yoga, or the Yoga of the Heart.
  2. Rather than an esoteric practice available to advanced practitioners, Kirtan is for everyone. And, you can get ALL of the benefits of Kirtan the very first time you step into this fun practice.
  3. Kirtan is easy, and no prior experience is required. To gain the benefits of this practice all you need to do is give it a try. Stream a chant by Krishna Das, Snatam Kaur, Deva Premal other Western Kirtan artists, and chant along!
  4. After you chant a bit, pay attention to your inner experience. You are likely to notice that your mind is calm, your heart is open, you feel more dropped into your body, and you now have a  sweet mood of gratitude. This is the fruit of the practice of sacred chant.

Kirtan is fun, easy and super accessible. If you are a beginner, I invite you to give it a try in a safe space and see what happens.
