Learning with Kirtan Leader Institute - 2021

What did you do in 2020-21?

Whenever someone asks me what I did during Covid times, an answer literally jumps off my tongue. "I put all of the Kirtan Leader Institute classes online!"

Covid caused me to engage in a big pivot. I quickly shut down our in-person classes and moved them online - pronto.

Luckily I began working with a digital marketing and course content creation specialist in 2018 to create the EnChant Your Life online course. In 2019 we ran this course twice. In 2020 we prepared to offer more online classes, which shifted from a choice to a necessity!

Our move online involved taking three in person courses online (Level 1 and both Level 2's). In addition,  we created a bunch of brand new courses, including Level 2.5 Sanskrit, Level 2.5 Kundalini Yoga, Level 3.5 online chant writing, Level 4 advanced online chant writing, Level 1 chants on guitar (coming Sept. 21) free chant class and sacred chant mentorships. Whew! 

We recently created this infographic so folks could better understand how they can learn in a structured way at KLI. Here are a few things to know. 

ENTRY LEVEL COURSES

We have three entry level classes. Two are self-guided (you can start anytime) and one is a group/interactive class, which runs quarterly. One is an add-on self-guided/on-demand class. You can... 

1. Learn 3 chants in our FREE self-guided online chant class.
2. Learn 7 chants for 7 deities (along with their associated myths, mantas and life lessons) in the EnChant Your Life self-guided online course.
3. Learn 7 chants from your favorite Kirtan artists - like Krishna Das and Snatam Kaur - in our Level 1 (Launch Your Home Chant Practice) online group course. 
4. For those who take the Level 1 class there is an option to add on a self-guided course where we teach you all the Level 1 chants in a self-guided course. Details coming soon. 

LEVEL 2 FOR INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS

These classes build on the foundation you developed in Level 1, taking you to the next level musically, energetically and spiritually as you expand your repertoire, learn new chords, strengthen your singing and more. 

• The Level 2 Sanskrit online group class will teach you 7 chants by your favorite Kirtan artists in the Bhakti tradition (think Krishna Das).
• The Level 2 Kundalini Yoga online group class will teach you 7 chants by your favorite Kirtan artists in the Kundalini Yoga tradition (think Snatam Kaur, Jai Jagdeesh, etc).

LEVEL 2.5 FOR INTERMEDIATE + STUDENTS

These classes build on the skills you developed in Level 2, taking you to the next level musically, energetically and spiritually as you expand your repertoire, learn new chords, strengthen your singing, learn chord voicing options and more. 

• The Level 2.5 Sanskrit online group class will teach you 7 chants by your favorite Kirtan artists in the Bhakti tradition (think Krishna Das).
• The Level 2.5 Kundalini Yoga online group class will teach you 7 chants by your favorite Kirtan artists in the Kundalini Yoga tradition (think Snatam Kaur, Jai Jagdeesh, etc). When you complete Level 2 and Level 2.5 Kundalini Yoga you will know all 9 chants in the Aquarian Sadhana.
• We will resume our Level 2 in person group intensives when is it safe to do so. 

LEVEL 3 FOR ADVANCED STUDENTS

These classes build on the skills you developed in Levels 1& 2, taking you to the next level as you learn to lead a band (only in in-person classes) and learn to write your own original chants in our Level 3.5 online group chant writing class! Click HERE to learn more. 

• The six-month Level 3.5 online chant writing class meets monthly as a group, and is supplemented with six private sessions with Mike. 
• We will resume our Level 3 in person group intensives when is it safe to do so.

LEVEL 4 FOR PROFESSIONAL STUDENTS

These classes build on the skills you developed in Levels 1, 2 and 3, taking you to the next level as you deepen your ability to lead a band, create events, tour and play festivals (only in in-person classes). Learn to write album ready original chants in our Level 4.0 online group advanced chant writing class! Receive guidance on stepping into a recording project. 

• The six-month Level 4.0 advanced online chant writing class meets monthly as a group, and is supplemented with six private sessions with Mike. 
• We will resume our Level 2 in person group intensives when is it safe to do so.
